North York underground Print

I've been compiling information about North York Centre underground access tunnels for pedestrians. North York Centre (or old North York City Centre) mesh of tunnel is similar to Toronto's PATH underground pathway system downtown. North York's system was developed under a watchful eye of Mayor Mel Lastman and abandoned once North York was amalgamated to Toronto. What we see today are fragments of a mater plan that would have seen a thriving downtown North York. The North York Centre subway station was a keystone of that plan. The network was doomed in the mid 1990's with a series of events that destroyed the original vision.

Please click on the image below to see the full scale map of the current underground at North York. In the future I plan a full writeup on each section of the North York underground, especially my rant about Menke's Ultima and how it singlehandedly distroyed the original dream and vision of a interconnected community.
